1990 Alfa Romeo 164 V6

-

HOW LONG HAVE YOU HAD IT?

I’ve owned the car since November 1997. I bought it through a classified advert for £3250 from a trader in Stockport. I’ve had Alfas since the early 1980s but I needed a bigger car for the kids and of course it had to have the magnificent Busso V6 under the bonnet. It was a daily driver at first but for the last 17 years it’s been dry summer use only. The rest of the time it’s kept in a brick garage. The car was valued at £4500 by a respected Alfa specialist a couple of years ago and that value was accepted by my insurance company. I’m now thinking of selling.

HOW MUCH HISTORY?

Loads; I’m one of those people who keeps everything. There’s every MoT and full Alfa (specialist) history. It comes with the original carpets, handbooks and tool kit too. The mileage is genuine.

WHAT’S LEFT TO DO ON IT?

Hardly anything. The cambelt was changed in September 2016, it was MoT’d in September 2017 (no advisories), and the clutch was overhauled with new main and slave cylinders in September 2016. There’s no rust or tears inside. All in all it’s in excellent condition – I’ve even entered it in the National Alfa Day concours event.

HAS IT BEEN MODIFIED?

The only mods are a Momo steering wheel and CD player, but I’ve kept the original radio. The car also has the optional Zender five-spoke alloy wheels. If I was keeping the car I’d probably get them refurbished, but they certainly aren’t scruffy.
