HOW LONG HAVE YOU HAD IT?

I bought my Old English White genuine convertible in 2001 for £1600 from private seller via word of mouth. After some work on the brakes and welding I got it MoT’d and back on the road. I’ve used it regularly since and it has been reliable. I bought the car with a Silver Seal engine fitted; I do not know its mileage details. I have sometimes been asked if I would sell the car. The answer to that is ‘yes’, if the offer was in excess of £5000, or ideally I’d like to do a swap for a Minor Traveller in good condition.

HOW MUCH HISTORY?

Current mileage showing is 65,000, but a replacement speedometer was fitted before I got hold of it. I have covered about 6000 miles since buying it and have all the MoTs. Local garage, Custom Classics, resprayed the body in 2017 and I had a new hood fitted earlier this year, along with further welding and repairs to the A-posts, inner wings and boot scuttle. In last three years I have had a new clutch, master brake cylinder and battery fitted.

WHAT’S LEFT TO DO ON IT?

Currently it needs a new roof support, because the roof cradle is sagging and needs to be supported with blocks of wood. Also the jacking point is missing on the driver’s side. The car is currently insured at market value with Footman James for £2000, but I am planning to increase that. I am also looking for an idea of what I might expect if I sell it.

HAS IT BEEN MODIFIED?

Only with electronic ignition.
