Cars that caught our eye in this week’s ads
AUSTIN MAXI 1750 HL
1976, 94,000 miles, £2500 ovno, jade green metallic, ochre interior, single carb fitted, clutch & rear bushes just changed MoT & tax exempt, history, sold with loads of new items, wings, sills, doors, bumpers & lights. Valuable reg OMG. 01913 880451, 07415 089813, Durham
p51 Austin Maxi
This high-spec Maxi 1750HL will make for a practical car even today, but it’s a shame that the twin carbs have been removed. Spare panels are a nice addition to the sale – just check that they’re not being offered as an excuse for rust.
LANCIA 1600 COUPÉ
1981, 71,696 miles, £1295, no offers. Pretty and solid with minimal rust red Beta Coupe, said to be the sweetest engine, not running as off road since ‘98 so need recomissioning and some bodywork repaint etc. getting rare. 01202 593067, Dorset
p53 Lancia Beta
Thanks to well publicised corrosion issues, a Beta Coupé is rare sight in the UK, but this looks like a decent base for restoration with supposedly minimal rust. Might be worth trying to get the engine running before you buy it, though.
TRIUMPH DOLOMITE 1850 HL
1980, 65,000 miles £3850 ono, MoT. Electronic ignition and new coil and HT leads. Stainless exhaust. Very good bodywork and interior. Full service history and original bill of sale. Two sets of keys. This Dolomite is original. 01986 894175, East Anglia.
p58 Triumph Dolomite
The Sprint might get all the fanfare, but 1850 Dollies are still strong performers and rare, too. Lots of history is good, though we’d be surprised if the bodywork is all original given its condition. Also, a bonus – it’s not brown.
