Imported RV8 hailed by marque experts as one to watch
A 687km (426-mile) MG RV8 is up for grabs at Middlesbrough dealer The Car Warehouse.
The one-owner car has been imported from Japan having been purchased from its original owner, pharmaceutical company Hikari Medical Services, which seems to have bought it new as an investment. The low mileage is believed to have been covered from driving the car to its four services. Believed to be the lowest mileage RV8 in existence, it is up for sale at £50,000.
The Car Warehouse owner, Lee Rowney, said: ‘I’ve had a bit of interest in the car so far. Our aim is that a serious collector or someone like a heritage museum will be interested, but we’re not in a rush to let it go anyway. It’s in the top of its price bracket, but it is probably the only sub-1000km RV8 in existence.
‘It’s better than any other I’ve ever seen come over from Japan, even examples with less than 10,000 miles. Being hypercritical, we’ll detail it before we do sell it, but that’s all it needs.’
Technical advisor at the MG Owners’ Club, Roger Parker, said: ‘I’ve not seen one with mileage this low for a very long time. To find one that is on running-in mileage is really quite rare. There can be corrosion issues on cars imported from Japan however, particularly on electrical connections, because they would have spent six weeks on a container ship, exposed to salty air.
‘You’ll also have to figure out what to do with the speedometer, which only reads in km/h.’
