WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
The Gilbern Owners’ Club’s Brian Gent comments: ‘The club reckons that around half of the Gilberns made have survived and all of them have gone up significantly in value in recent years, in line with most classics. The MkI and MkII are worth equal amounts but the MkIII carries a premium. A MkI or MkII project is worth £3500, but a MkIII will fetch £4500. Good cars start at £8000, or £9500 for a MkIII. Find a really nice Invader for sale and you’ll pay around £10,000 for it if it’s a MkI or MkII – however, an equivalent MkIII is up to £15,000. The very best MkIIIs can go for up to £25,000, but earlier editions are worth around 10 per cent less.’
