Eccentric collection comes to market
An eclectic group of 11 classics formerly owned by collector and restorer, Andrew Bremner, are to go up for sale at Brightwells’ 26 September auction in Leominster.
Following the purchase of an Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint at the age of
21, Bremner began a lifetime love affair with Italian cars and motorbikes – there are also 26 classic bikes up for grabs. As well as the 1963 Giulietta Sprint Bremner owned for over 40 years, a 1964 Giulietta Sprint is also for sale, as is a 1980 Maserati Biturbo Spyder. Bremner restored most of the cars and bikes he owned, and was known to travel extreme lengths to find the perfect car or part – he once imported a 1925 Dodge Model 4 from New Zealand.
However, Bremner’s taste was not limited to Italian and pre-war cars; esoteric classics such as a 1957 Borgward Isabella, a 1967 NSU Sport Prinz and a Ukranian-built ZAZ invalid car built for Russian veterans are also for sale.
Andrew’s son, Myles, said: ‘My father enjoyed the restoration as much as the finished article and was a master of the web search engine. eBay in one hand and a glass of wine in another. After one glass, he liked it. After two, he wanted it. Three, and it was his.’
Brightwells Classic Car Consultant, Jim Henshaw, said: ‘This is likely to be the sale of the year for lovers of Italian machinery and anything a little quirky!’
