EVERYTHING MUST GO! 40 CLASSIC JAGS UP FOR SALE
European stash up for grabs – but there’s a catch
‘There’s a good selection of S1 XJ6s – at ¤1100each, they’re decent value’ GRAHAM SEARLE, JEC
AGerman Jaguar devotee is putting his entire 40-car collection up for sale – but they’re being sold as a single lot.
After spending two decades collecting every example of his favourite Jaguar model that he could lay his hands on, Christoph Schneider is asking ¤44,000 (£39,500) for the stash of XJ saloons.
Classic specialist, MSAutomakler, which is selling the cars on Christoph’s behalf, said: ‘He’s not going to get around to restoring them. A package price is the best way to get rid; that’s ¤1100 (£987) per Jaguar!’
Having amassed cars from all over Europe, including the UK, France, Holland, Luxembourg and Germany, Christoph wants the space back in his yard to concentrate on other projects – of which he has considerable number. E-types, a MkI, Mk2 and MkXs feature prominently.
Some 38 of the cars for sale are either 2.8- or 4.2-litre XJ6s, with a pair of XJ12 and XJ40 projects bulking out the collection.
Jaguar Enthusiasts’ Club General Manager, Graham Searle, said: ‘From what I’ve seen, there’s a good selection of Series 1 XJ6s on offer in saveable condition; at ¤1100 each they’re decent value. If the cars were listed individually I think they’d be snapped up – but the logistics of getting 40 cars home would only suit someone with a lot of time and space – a restorer, perhaps – who could make use of the parts or rebuild them into roadworthy cars.’
