HOW LONG HAVE YOU OWNED THE CAR?

I bought my Ambassador 2.0 HLS in 2007. I saw it parked up with a bush growing over the top virtually covering it, made enquiries and left a note for the owner. I heard nothing for several months then he rang and said I should come and chat. He’d bought the car from the original owner’s estate, but covered just 150 miles over the six or seven years he owned it. I collected it, removed the stale petrol and got her running. The bodywork looked presentable enough after a polish although all four arches had parking damage.

HOW MUCH HISTORY?

I have lots of history but not comprehensive, unfortunately. I have the original advert from CCW where the last owner bought it from. I’m down as the third owner. It has still only covered 40,000 miles. In 2014 I decided to get it resprayed and took the engine out to clean and paint that at the same time. It gets lots of attention at shows and when I’m out and about. A lot of people laugh and mock, but I love its rarity. It’s one of only two currently licensed 1984 2.0 HLS

models.

WHAT’S LEFT TO DO ON IT?

The only things I need to do are take out the dashboard – the foam is falling apart in the heater matrix, so it showers you each time the blowers are on – and put the twin carburettors (which I have rebuilt) back on. I currently have an agreed valuation of £6000.

HAS IT BEEN MODIFIED?

No modifications – it even has the original Audioline radio/tape player that was taken as an upgrade from the dealer, and that’s on the bill of sale I have.
