‘My lovely companion Mini is gone’

‘Heartbroken’ enthusiast’s 1960 Morris Mini Minor was stolen on 11 October

Mini owner Simone Boux took to social media recently in the hope of getting her 1960 Morris Mini Minor back after it was taken from its parking space in Hackney, East London.

Gifted to her by Mini-owning friend Anne Rogers three years ago, Simone’s car, used daily for short trips and dog walking, disappeared between 1.30pm and 2.10pm on 11 October. She suspects whoever took the Mini lifted or towed it away after smashing the window; the car needed a new clutch when it was taken and couldn’t be driven.

Simone said: ‘I am heartbroken as my lovely Mini is gone. I am suffering from cancer at the moment, and this has hit me hard.’ Simone told CCW that she was also worried for the sake of Anne’s Mini – when her car disappeared, Anne found that the window on her car, another, almost identical 1960 Mini Minor – had been slid backwards. ‘Maybe they wanted to come back for it. I am so relieved that they did not take hers as well; she’s owned it from new, she’s never driven anything else and she drives it back and forth to Italy at least twice a year.

‘Anne is lovely – I have never received anything like a Mini before. When she gave a matching car, I was gobsmacked.‘
