HOW LONG HAVE YOU OWNED THE CAR?

I bought the car back in March 2012 at a car auction and paid just under £2000 for it. I understand that Hutchinson Designs of Coventry produced 200 of these cabriolet conversions, which added £1290 to the price of a two-door saloon, and they were sold through Vauxhall garages across the UK. Peter Hutchinson was a production engineer on the Triumph Stag. I have not had to do any work on the car since I have owned it other than servicing, and as you can see from the attached photograph, it is still in lovely condition.

HOW MUCH HISTORY?

There is a complete history file for the car including old servicing receipts and MoT certificates, all of which confirm that low mileage of 53,326 is correct.

WHAT’S LEFT TO DO ON IT?

We have not used the car for several years, now, and have decided that the time has come to sell it. However, it is proving difficult to fix a valuation. When speaking to members of various Vauxhall owners’ clubs I have been given figures ranging from £6000 to £20,000, and currently have it insured for £6000. The DVLA’s ‘How Many Left’ site indicates just three survivors, all of them on SORN, so it should be worth preserving, but how do you value this type of car? Any help you can provide in the way of valuation and the best way to sell it would be much appreciated.

HAS IT BEEN MODIFIED?

As far as I can tell, the car has not been modified other than having had an alarm system fitted to it at some point.
