HOW LONG HAVE YOU OWNED THE CAR?

I bought it in 2006 from a private owner for £1650. Since then it's had the oil and filter changed every two years, new crank sensors, a respray in original black and a reconditioned interior. It has not been a problem car for me.

I renewed the insurance last July and asked Heritage to increase it to £4000. They said that it wouldn’t cost any more. At the time I declined it – can’t remember why, but it was stupid, really, because I believe that it is worth about that. We are moving to Spain but if we were staying in the UK then I would not be even thinking of selling what has been an extremely good and reliable car.

HOW MUCH HISTORY?

A lady in Edinburgh bought it new and then gave it to her niece in Southampton. She then sold it to a lady who eventually transferred it to her husband. They lived in Kent.

I am therefore the fifth owner. There’s a sheet of paper with all work done up to 2006, but only receipts for the bits that I have had to do over the past 13 years, along with all MoTs since then.

WHAT’S LEFT TO DO ON IT?

The rear windscreen wiper is not working, and neither is the heated rear screen. The heater needs a new cable (it remains on hot), and it’s due a cambelt change.

HAS IT BEEN MODIFIED?

No modifications that I am aware of. It came with eight wheels with various tyres on them; having worn them out I have finished with the original size tyres on all four wheels.
