CHARLIE’S TO DO LIST

-

CRUISE CONTROL We suspect that a dodgy vacuum hose is the only thing preventing the Galant’s most high-tech feature from working.

TYRES There’s plenty of tread left on the Galant’s tyres, but they’re well over a decade old and feel past their best. A new set of rubber will transform the car’s handling.

TIMING BELT Our Mitsubishi’s already been through three timing belts, but it’s due a fourth. We’ll need to change it soon, because it’s an interference engine.

RUST Corrosion is just starting to appear in the join between the windscreen and the body. We’ll need to halt the corrosion right away and think about fixing it, too.

HEATER The Mitsubishi would be an incredibly comfortable car if it weren’t for the fact it is freezing. We need to get the heater working again or it’ll be frozen legs all round!

REAR DAMPERS There’s no evidence of the dampers ever being replaced, and the rears are showing it. We’ll replace them once more urgent jobs are done.

EXHAUST The Galant’s exhaust is blowing a bit. Finding a replacement will be difficult, so we may just have to plug the small holes for now as a running repair.

BOOT The carpet in here is a little damp, but the boot seals look perfect, so it’s thinking caps on as we need to work out how water is getting in here.

BRAKES The rear brakes have a habit of binding once the handbrake has been applied, so we’re parking the Galant in gear without the handbrake for now.
