HOW LONG HAVE YOU OWNED THE CAR?

I won it in a competition held by Channel 4 in February 2000. It had been used by Hugh FearnleyWhittingstall in the River Cottage series. A £10 donation to charity was an entry requirement and I have an original printout of the website competition page. It’s insured with Hagerty for

£5000.

HOW MUCH HISTORY?

I have an old

‘green’ logbook with four entries on it from 197174, all London area. The logbook verifies the original colour as being green and white. I spoke to Nick Hunt, the owner prior to Hugh F-W, who gave me a verbal history of the car and how he acquired it, updated the logbook (listed as the first keeper) and got it back on the road in a very short time in readiness for the TV company and Hugh. Otherwise, I only have a full history of receipts since I acquired the car.

HAS IT BEEN MODIFIED?

Door cards are not original (Cortina design), and the period chrome Cragar wheels were added by Nick Hunt, but have flaking chrome and surface rust. Otherwise, the car is still mostly original.

WHAT’S LEFT TO DO ON IT?

Plenty! I’ve done a lot but it is very much a rolling restoration, structurally sound with obvious evidence of old welding repairs to front chassis legs. The bodywork is scruffy with paint flaking off and rust blistering on the offside front wing trailing edge and bootlid lip. Chrome trim is all present but hastily attached and dented. The vinyl interior is tatty and the heater plumbing is disconnected to bypass the heater matrix.
