A YEAR OF CHANGE
Aside from the highs and lows, great adventures and miraculous fixes, most of the team will remember 2019 for how much our fleet has changed
The past 12 months have been anything but dull for the CCW team, with an unprecedented number of new additions replacing old favourites. Some decisions were made out of choice, but it’s fair to say that others have been forced upon our intrepid little group.
Just before going to press, James had to rewrite his words looking back over his year with the former £500 Challenge Ford Puma, owing to the grim news that followed its recent MoT. The situation is so bad that he’ll be saying goodbye to his faithful baby Ford soon and begin searching for a new classic in the New Year. Likewise, contributor Dale Vinten discovered to his horror that his ‘forever’ Ford Capri had fallen victim to an arson attack, resulting in him buying a bonkers Volvo 940.
David has parted ways with his MGB GT and welcomed a Reliant Scimitar GTE, Charlie misses his Peugeot 205 GT but loves the practicality of his BMW 318Ti and contributor Keith Adams has sold his Citroën GS and now has an Audi 80.
Aside from saying hello and waving goodbye, we’ve been busy trying to make the most of everything the classic car hobby has to offer – David contributed to an attempt to break the record for the biggest convoy of Mazda cars with his MX-5 and the whole team descended on arguably one of the best mid-week shows of the year – Classics on the Green, organised by the Watford and District Classics Vehicle Club.
These are just some of the highlights, though – read on across the next few pages to see what else we’ve been up to.
