HOW LONG HAVE YOU OWNED THE CAR?

We bought our manual transmission Ford Granada 2.0 GL five-door hatch new 30 years ago in 1990 from the Ford dealership in Irlam, Salford, for somewhere in the region of £13,000. The car has always been garaged since then and is in very nice original condition inside and out, with blemishfree paintwork. It has never been involved in an accident. I believe the 2016 classic car insurance valuation, all be it without getting the documents out to confirm it, was something like £3500.

HOW MUCH HISTORY?

I know all about the car’s history because it has been in the same ownership since new and we have quite a bit of paperwork on it. Regarding the 84,000 current mileage, we have the majority of all the past MoTs, and especially the later ones, to confirm that mileage. Apparently there are only around six of this model’s survivors currently taxed and on the road.

HAS IT BEEN MODIFIED?

It has not been modified at all.

WHAT’S LEFT TO DO ON IT?

Regarding work done, the car has been serviced every year until 2016, even though very few miles have been covered since 2005, and any work due has been done as required, including some welding to the underside in 2014.

The car has been on SORN for nearly four years, now, however and needs to be recommissioned and taken for a fresh MoT. It hasn’t been driven since the last one was done back in December 2014, apart from reversing it out of the garage recently to take some photographs to accompany this valuation request.

What sort of value do you think I should place on the car, given the above information?
