HOW LONG HAVE YOU OWNED THE CAR?
I have now owned the car for around ten years after buying it for the very fair sum of £1500 at a local classic car show. Since then I have had the body resprayed in the correct original shade of Harvest Gold. I have also fitted a new Webasto sunroof – in complementary brown rather than the more common black – and a new interior lining.
HOW MUCH HISTORY?
There’s not a great deal that came with the car. It is reading 108,000 miles on the clock, which seems to be backed up by the paper and online MoT history. It is obviously MoT- and tax-exempt, but for my own piece of mind I have always put it in for an MoT every year, which I am proud to say has only failed once, the reason being on that occasion that the steering rack was worn and showing a little play. That was of course immediately replaced.
HAS IT BEEN MODIFIED?
The only modification I have made (unless you count the ‘74’ sticker on the doors and a chrome tailpipe finisher for the exhaust) is to fit a set of periodcorrect Wolfrace ‘slot-mag’ wheels and matching tyres. It came with the period front spoiler fitted.
WHAT’S LEFT TO DO ON IT?
Hardly anything, really. Mechanically everything is absolutely fine. The bodywork is still lovely apart from some slight blistering on the nearside front wing. Most of the chrome is pretty good, too. I would be very grateful if you could tell me what my MGB GT’s value is at the moment.
