Classic specialist pulls in record results after using ‘walkaround’ videos to sell cars – we investigate if it’s safe to buy unseen
Specialists selling classic cars have said that buyers are happy to buy on the strength of online videos produced during the lockdown, including one that’s enjoyed a record month for sales due to their popularity,
The Classic & Sports Car Centre in North Yorkshire says that it’s hit a sales record of around £2m in stock sold since the lockdown started, something that it has attributed to classic fans buying online on the strength of ‘walkaround’ films.
Founder, Nick Szkiler, said: ‘ You do a video on a car, it can then go out around the world. Transporters come and collect from us every day. There’s a network of customers sitting at home with time and money, ready to buy cars.’
Classic Jaguars and Land Rovers cheered patients at a Warwickshire hospital when they appeared together at a sociallydistanced car show.
Jaguar Land Rover Classic put on the VE Day-themed car show for the George Eliot Hospital Trust in Nuneaton, Warwickshire on 7 May, using vehicles from its fully restored fleet.
Twelve volunteers wearing period military uniforms, arrived at the George Eliot Hospital car park from JLR Classic Works in Ryton-on-Dunsmore, behind the wheels of Jaguar MkI and MkVII saloons, an XK140, XK150 and E-type. Accompanying the Jaguars were examples of the Land Rover Series I, Series II,
Series III, 101 Forward Control and Range Rover Classic.
A JLR spokesperson said: ‘The Classic team suggested a sociallydistanced classic car display, with safeguarding practices implemented and agreed with the hospital and Trust, to help raise spirits the NHS “Clap for Carers” on the Thursday evening before VE Day.’
‘All put smiles on the faces of volunteers and NHS staff.’
