BEDFORD CA (1952-69)
TOTAL MADE APPROX. 370,000 SOLD BY 1969
The Bedford CA’s pug-faced look may appear quaint today, but it marked a big step forward for light commercial vehicles when it made its debut in March 1952, with independent front suspension, semiforward control and a longitudinal front engine with rear-wheel-drive.
A popular feature on the delivery van was the sliding side doors that saw drivers enjoying some fresh air with their door open as they drove along. Early models had a two-piece front windscreen with matching grille.
Various body styles were offered including pick-up truck and 12-seater passenger carriers. Dormobile produced some stylish camper options, too.
