HOW LONG HAVE YOU HAD IT?

Actually I don’t own it – I’m getting it valued for the present elderly owner, who now wishes to sell. He is the second owner and bought it in 1998. The car has always been stored in a heated garage when not in use, so this will be a rare opportunity for someone to acquire one of these cars in original, unrestored condition. Being the Vitesse Sport model, it features the multi-point fuel injection system with a factory-fitted turbo. These engines produced almost 200bhp and this one drives beautifully. The Recaro interior, in black with red stitching, is still bright and fresh, and the headlining is in excellent order.

HOW MUCH HISTORY?

This was a Rover management car prior to being purchased by the present owner. Since 1998 all services have been carried out by Rover dealer JG Sutherland in Halkirk, Caithness, apart from one that was done by a former Sutherland foreman. The history shows that the indicated mileage of just over 48,000 is correct.

HAS IT BEEN MODIFIED?

Not at all – it’s all standard.

WHAT’S LEFT TO DO ON IT?

The car has had the alloy wheels refurbished at some stage, together with a small amount of tidyup work around the arches. The bodywork has a lovely shine, although there are a few marks on the paint – the driver’s front wing has been lightly keyed and there are one or two marks on the rear bumper. A small amount of lifting can be found on the dashboard and the central locking does play up from time to time. It is due another service as the last was done some time ago, although the car has been little used in recent years.
