HOW LONG HAVE YOU OWNED THE CAR?
It was imported from the (very) dry state of Arizona to the UK in September 2017. The car had been fully dismantled except for the body, which was still attached to the chassis. This is the condition it was in when I bought the car in November 2017. The body and chassis had no rot at all and remarkably all the panels were the ones it left the factory with in 1976, so it was a great starting point for a restoration project. The recorded mileage is 6500, whatever that means…
HOW MUCH HISTORY?
A full restoration was started straightaway and every item was dismantled and repaired or replaced with new. The engine bay and boot were re-sprayed first, with the reconditioned engine and gearbox and all ancillaries then fitted.
Attention then turned to removing all the old faded Inca Yellow paint, right back to bare metal. It then went for a professional re-spray in that original colour. On its return, a complete new interior, boot cards and mat, plus vinyl roof were fitted and all exterior items replaced. It was MoT’d and a UK registration was obtained, before it was then put back on the road in April 2019. I have obtained a Heritage Certificate plus a copy of the Arizona Title. I have also kept every invoice for all the parts purchased during the restoration process.
HAS IT BEEN MODIFIED?
When re-trimming I upgraded the interior to a walnut dashboard.
WHAT’S LEFT TO DO ON IT?
Nothing. I currently have an agreed insurance value of £19,000, but I wanted to check that this is about the right figure.
