Q&A WITH FJ’S CHARLOTTE TURNER

INSURANCE SPECIALIST ON THE RENEWALS TEAM AT FJ

-

In this edition of Meet The Team we catch up with Charlotte Turner, Insurance Specialist on the Renewals team at Footman James.

What do you do at FJ?

Before I started at FJ I worked in retail for around 8 years and worked my way up in that industry but then decided I wanted a change of career. Although I had a good customer service background, I started at FJ with no insurance experience at all. I now work on the Renewals team and I have worked at FJ for just over 3 and a half years. On a daily basis I speak to clients on the phone or via email discussing their policies and making amendments to suit their needs or change in circumstances. It’s also important to help clients understand the different levels of cover available so that they can decide what best suits their needs. For example, with FJ+ you can add breakdown cover or agreed value to a policy. Making outbound calls to our clients is also a big part of my job role, this is to remind them they are due for renewal so that if they do wish to renew, the policy doesn’t lapse and they are not left without cover on their vehicle.

What do you like most about your job?

I enjoy the social aspect of my job talking to different clients daily & my colleagues.

What’s the most challenging thing about your job?

The most challenging part of my job is having to get the regulatory information across to a client on a call but also still have a friendly conversation with them and build rapport.

What’s the most interesting conversation you’ve had with a client?

A clients’ father had sadly passed away so the car had been left to him, the car needed a lot of restoration as it hadn’t been used or out the garage for years due to his father being ill and not being able to drive that type of car anymore. The client had decided to restore the car without his mother knowing so he could pick her up in the car once the restoration was completed to surprise her and cheer her up.

What are the highlights of your time at FJ?

One of my highlights of FJ is that I’ve made some good friends, also we have charity days and different events that are organised throughout the year and this makes the office a friendly place to work.

If you can have any classic vehicle, money no object, what would be it and why?

A Triumph Stag, my grandad used to own one. I remember going out as a kid on Sundays when the weather was nice with the roof down – brings back good memories!

How have you found working from home during lockdown?

I found working from home challenging at times as I like to keep my work life and home life separate, although I thought I’d enjoy working from home the novelty wore off very quickly. I was glad when I was given the opportunity to go back into the office in July.

What do you like doing outside of work?

I enjoy going out and socialising with my family and friends, shopping and going on holidays.
