NEC’s resto show called off
Virtual event to happen next month after event is postponed a second time
The Practical Classics Classic Car & Restoration Show, with Discovery, has been called off for a second year due to COVID-19 lockdown restrictions.
Having moved once from its original March slot, it was realised that lockdown restrictions would not have lifted sufficiently by 11-13 June to allow the Restoration Show to be held this year. An internet streamed version of the show, known as the ‘Online Edition’ will take place on 27 March.
Event director, Lee Masters, said: ‘We understand that this will be as big a disappointment to our exhibitors and visitors as it is to us. We have all been very much looking forward to getting back to some form of normality and business as usual.’
Tickets bought for the cancelled 11-13 June show dates will be rolled over to next year’s event; holders can also carry over their tickets to other shows organised by Clarion but unaffected by coronavirus measures by sending an email to: practicalclassicsshow@seetickets.com with ticket preferences. These include the Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show with Discovery, on 11-13 November 2021, or Reis Race Retro (18-20 February 2022).
Practical Classics editor, Danny Hopkins, pledged that 2022’s Classic Car And Restoration Show would be a larger and more active exhibition as a result of this year’s cancellation. He said: ‘ The show was one of the first events to suffer at the hands of the pandemic, and now it looks like being one of the last to be postponed as well. Bad timing, and everyone at the magazine is gutted about it. Last year was our 40th anniversary year and we had some pretty ambitious plans, all of which stayed in the PC workshop.
‘However, despite the disappointment, we know that this is the right decision.’
