THE SHOWS WE’RE LOOKING FORWARD TO
Stars & Stripes Tatton Park, Cheshire, WA16 6QN. 3-4 July.
If my first visit to a big show this summer is one spent perusing Cadillacs and Corvettes while chomping on cheeseburgers, then I’ll be a happy man. There are normally upwards of 1000 US-built classics on show, encompassing everything from pre-war classics to muscle cars and beyond, with a particularly strong showing of military vehicles, too. It’s a great place to pick up a Detroit classic, too – there are normally plenty of for sale at Tatton.

Sunday Scramble! Bicester Heritage, Oxfordshire OX26 5HA. 5-6 June.
Perhaps it’s just the familiarity of it – I’ve been a few times before – but walking around Bicester Heritage’s site on a summer morning will be one of those things that subconsciously tells me: ‘ Things are getting back to normal’. I can’t wait for the next Scramble, which is stretched over an entire weekend to make up for the smaller capacities forced by COVID. It’s prebooking only with a limited amount of tickets, so book soon if you want to go.

Simply Porsche National Motor Museum, Beaulieu, Hampshire SO42 7ZN. 6 June.
This will be the first of Beaulieu’s Simply classic car events this year, and they make for a fantastic addition to visiting the museum, whether or not you have a Porsche (the museum should be fully open by the time of the event). They are generally relaxed affairs, but given how long it has been since most people have been to a car show, and how fanatical Porsche owners are, I get the feeling that this will be one of the bigger Simply events.
