NEW DEALERSHIP TO HELP YOUNGER ENTHUSIASTS

Venture to concentrate on affordable classics after plea in CCW SCENE

-

Anew dealership set up by two women who have been friends since childhood aims to help young enthusiasts buy a classic.

Davison’s Classics has been set up in Benfleet, Essex, by Alison Roggerman and Emma Savage. Alison said: ‘ We have always loved classics and wanted to do something like this.

‘My dad was a driving instructor and he would always be bringing home Metros and Fiestas – it started from there. Then came COVID-19, I got a bit of a windfall and Emma wasn’t working, so the time was just right for our new venture.’

Added Alison: ‘ We aim to specialise in affordable, useable classics that people will be able to drive and enjoy. Reading Classic Car Weekly, we have been concerned about the problems young people are facing in buying classics and we want to help. We are hoping to be able to offer finance shortly though obviously we’re not suggesting for a second that there would be any deal that was not perfectly suitable to any buyer’s financial situation.’

The chosen title of Davison’s Classics reflects Alison’s maiden name. Current stock includes a 1973 Triumph Stag in useable order for £10,000 and a 1966 Jaguar S-Type in red, requiring some minor interior work, at £16,000. There’s also a Ford Capri, which originated as a 1600 but was converted to 3000GT specification before being imported from South Africa.

Alison’s brother, Paul, is on hand to lend support and a local classic specialist is also carrying out work on the cars. Nick Larkin
