What made you want a Triumph Spitfire?

Before moving to England for my undergraduate, the availability of classic cars excited me the most. A couple months into student life I realised it was near to impossible to get a classic that would interest me on my student budget. I wasn’t specifically looking for a Spitfire, but as soon as I saw it I knew this was the one. It really stood out to me.

Tell us about this one.

I found my spitfire near London. It was tucked in a small garage and when I first went to see it, I felt as if it spoke to me. The next working day I got the car trailered to Manchester. This one speaks volumes of how this car has been cherished and loved over the years. It was restored in 2011 and came with an album of pictures and extensive file of receipts.

Why did you pick this specific example? Did you see any others?

Looking for - and finding - something that I liked was not as hard as being able to get insured on it. Some of the quotes I had were for £6,000 a year! But after searching the market for months and finding a car that did not cost as much to insure, I knew I was looking for a topdown classic. This car has clearly been loved all of its life.

Has it been a joy to own?

My passion for this car is beyond words, every time I lift the garage door it is a quest for me to make it better from one angle to the other. From detailing to constant checkups, she’s driven and enjoyed as it was meant to be.

What are your plans for it now?

I am planning to take it to shows and celebrate the love I have for this car. I want to share it with individuals who share the same passion. I plan to make minor improvements, but I also need to make sure it stays in as good condition as it is, as it still has things like its original spare wheel and dealership keychain. though, and getting the car trailored up from London shows his desire to make sure he had the perfect car for him. The car looks as good as it must have when it was new, no doubt because of the enjoyment its new owner has found with a cloth and a bottle of polish! Muneeb’s passion for the car is infectious, and all of us at CCW are hoping he has a fantastic summer meeting likeminded people at shows.’
