Projects start at around £800 but anything decent is going to be nearer £1500. The best sixcylinder saloons are £10,000 while equivalent convertibles cost around £13,000. Six-pot E30s carry a 25 per cent premium over equivalent four-cylinder cars, with four-door saloons the least valuable – they’re becoming a rare sight, however, so this may gradually change in the years to come. Convertibles are the most valuable E30s and therefore regularly command five-figure sums today. Two-door saloons and Tourings are worth roughly the same amount for any given specification.
