THREE MORE HISTORIC RACE EVENTS TO BOOK NOW
Goodwood Revival Meeting Goodwood Motor Circuit, Chichester, West Sussex PO18 0PH. 16-18 September
Well worth booking ahead because tickets for this one normally sell out quickly. Big draws this year include a race given over entirely to MGBS to mark the Abingdon classic’s 60th anniversary and the tenth anniversary of its Austin J40 race. The huge displays given over to the classics you bring along is effectively a big show in itself, too. Just don’t forget to wear your period 1960s clobber…

Oulton Park Gold Cup Oulton Park Circuit, Little Budworth, Cheshire CW6 9BW. 29-31 July
The flagship Historic Gold Cup itself is being given to the winner of two races focusing on singleseaters from the era before slicks and spoilers, but the races that we’re particularly interested in are the Griffiths Haig Trophy, a new addition focusing on 1950s sports racing cars with drum brakes, and the Egerton Cup, a battle for pre-war cars which is also making its debut. The club displays on the circuit’s infield will keep you entertained for hours, too.

Castle Combe Autumn Classic Castle Combe Circuit, Chippenham, Wiltshire SN14 7EY. 24 September
Note the slightly earlier date than its usual October fixture, and a focus on Porsche, given that it’s 70 years since Claude Bannister first lapped the Wiltshire circuit in a 356. The circuit’s being given over to ten races with most of the action coming courtesy of 1950s-’70s saloons and sports cars, and there’s also a fairly extensive section given over to club displays on the perimeters. It’s a fast circuit and the action can get pretty tense, so this will be well worth a look.
