1934 BOWLUS PAPOOSE TRAILER PROTOTYPE
This one-off Bowlus trailer prototype is 11ft 6in long, 6ft wide, 7ft high and weighs 700lb. It was built by Harley Bowlus, a friend of solo transatlantic
Spirit of St Louis pilot Charles Lindbergh. The two would go gliding together in the desert but then had to travel 100 miles to find a motel for the night. Harley Bowlus built this trailer so that they could stay on site. Fitted out exactly as it was in the Thirties, it’s a favourite with the Spielman grandchildren. The Bowlus company failed in the depression and was bought by Airstream.
