THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT

BROOKLANDS DOUBLE 12, 17-18 JUNE

-

An anniversary and an unveiling

It’s been 110 years since racing began at the world’s first purpose-built motor sport venue, so expect significant cars to attend the biggest event in Brooklands’ calendar. This year, the circuit plans to unveil the newly-restored finishing straight – it’s been hidden under a temporary Wwii-style Bellman hangar for the last two years.

Still a challenge

Although cars no longer hurtle around the infamous banking, the site still plays host to a series of challenges for the Vintage Sports Car Club, including speed trials on the infield Mercedes-benz World circuit and the Test Hill Challenge, which sees everything from prewar motorcycles to Edwardian aero-engined monsters competing in a hill climb run.

There’s a concours too

It’s not all about smoking tyres and screaming engines – Vintage-era cars will join a concours, adding period glamour to the (flying) grit.
