Classic Cars (UK)

It’s not ‘restored’!

-

I have just begun reading, and enjoying, the Jaguar E-type Driven by Classic Cars bookazine but I’m disturbed by your use of the term ‘restored’ or ‘restoration’. To restore something is to return it to its former state. This is precisely not what Eagle does, and nor is it what anyone else does when they update or otherwise alter the specification of a classic car.

It is quite acceptable for worn-out or unusable items to be replaced with identical items, provided that they perform in the original manner.

I am not for one moment condemning what Eagle does, nor indeed what any other owner does, but please don’t confer the honour of restoration to these efforts. Restoration is not a matter of opinion, it is a clear and simple process. Ross Ord
