CHOOSE YOUR TRIUMPH STAG

Michelotti-styled Stag launched in 1970 with bespoke 3-litre V8 engine. Three-speed auto or four-speed manual gearbox with optional overdrive. All Mkis have steel Rostyles.

In 1971 a Us-market version is launched with lower compression 127bhp engine.

MKII version appears in 1973 with minor engine mods. Overdrive becomes standard on manuals. You can spot one by its twin coachlines and lack of side windows in the softtop. Alloy wheels and tinted glass options.

In 1976, sill finisher strip is deleted and rear panel reverts to body colour, tyre width reduced from 185mm to 175mm. An updated three-speed auto is fitted.

Production ends in 1977 after 25,939 are made.
