WHAT THE K500 MARKET INDEX SAYS ABOUT THE…
Ferrari 250GT Tour de France
K500’s Simon Kidston says, ‘A model that so monopolised an event they baptised it with the same name. Few examples could top the $13.2m paid in August 2015 for playboy sportsman Marquis de Portago’s 1956 Tdf-winning 250GT, effectively the ‘Pre-tdf’. Most celebrated is ‘0677 GT’ – it averaged more than 200km/h from Mantova to the finish on the 1957 Mille Miglia, beating factory Ferrari 335Ss and even Moss’s 1955 record in the 300SLR. Early 1957 ’14-louvre’ cars most prized; open-headlamps examples are least expensive but still command millions.’
