Owning a Peugeot 406 Coupé

-

‘I started looking for a Coupé in 2003,’ says serial 406 owner Tim Collins, ‘but I kept searching until I found my Settant’anni in 2007. It wasn’t quite right at the time – previous owners had replaced some modelspecific components with SE parts. I had to source the correct grille, mats and more. Settant’anni items can be difficult to find; I’ve had to order some from France.’

‘The main problems I’ve had are age-related, like replacing the fuel pump and the handbrake cable. I experienced water ingress through the driver’s door too – a previous owner had failed to reseal the membrane correctly. I dehumidified the interior and had the wiring harness repaired to fix the damage. It was an investment in continuing to enjoy the car. I drove over to Milan in 2017 for an international celebration of the model’s 20th anniversary and won the award for best original Coupé. It returned more than 30mpg en route.’
