CHOOSE YOUR JAGUAR XK120
Jaguar unveiled the XK120 roadster at the 1948 London Motor Show, intending to showcase the new XK engine. The rapturous reception convinced William Lyons to productionise it.
Body construction switched from aluminium-over-ash to steel during May 1950.
A more luxurious fixed-head coupé (FHC) arrived during 1951. Upgrades included a walnut veneer dash and better security. More powerful SE (Special Equipment) models also appeared.
During the last full production year, a drophead coupé surfaced, combining the sophistication of the FHC with the al fresco qualities of the Open Two-seater roadster.
The XK140 replaced the XK120 during 1954. In total 12,055 XK120S are constructed.
