FIAT BABY BOOMER?
The latest online auction from Brightwells on December 10 saw a relatively compact catalogue of 83 cars offered. It still drew plenty of interest though and 60 of the cars found new owners. Standout result was for the 1968 Fiat 500F above. This was an original right-hand-drive UK market car with full history, 52,000 miles and much spent in recent years on a repaint and £1500 of new parts. Estimated at £7000-£9000 in recognition of a recent drop in values, it sold for £12,320. Has the tide turned for these baby Fiats?
BRM V16S TO HOWL AGAIN
There’s a surprise new entry to the fold of ‘continuation cars’. With the blessing of the Owen Organisation – which owns the BRM rights – historic race car restorer and BRM specialist Hall & Hall will build three tool-room copies of the original BRM P15 grand prix cars. The move celebrates the 70th anniversary of the cars’ debut in F1 racing. Hall & Hall will use 20,000 original drawings to faithfully reproduce all the components, including those screaming 12,000rpm V16 engines. See britishracingmotors.co.uk
