Norfolk collection for sale
Rare classics offered under the radar in fine art auction
In an exclusive to Classic Cars, we can reveal that a fine collection of five classic cars including an Alvis Speed 20 is to be included in Lacy Scott & Knight’s next Fine Art and Antiques sale on June 12 in Bury St Edmonds. They form part of a deceased estate sale and were the property of a secretive Norfolk collector. All have sat unused for at least two years but were stored in dry barns. Most are now running.
Star turn is that Alvis Speed 20 which, with sought-after Vanden
Plas coachwork, we’re told was the previous owner’s favourite. It was bought from Red Triangle in 2008, has previously enjoyed a body-off restoration and comes with a huge history file. It has been estimated to fetch a keen £50-60k.
The Tr-engined 1960 Morgan Plus 4 is also superb, benefitting from a recent new chassis and ash body frame. It too has a fat history file and is estimated to make £25-30k.
The remaining trio are a Rollsroyce 20/25, unusually built on a long-wheelbase chassis with a Barker Sedanca de Ville body, bought by the late owner in 1976. Then there’s a 1938 MG VA Tourer that runs but needs a new hood and cosmetics. Finally a Lotus Europa Twin Cam, a running project last Mot’d in 2012 and repainted in JPS livery by the owner, though originally yellow.
Lacy Scott & Knight partner Ed Crichton told us, ‘The cars have been given realistic reserves but they will all be sold.’ For more details see the website, lsk.co.uk
