Zoey looks for a new home

-

1958 Austin A40 Farina

For sale at Bonhams MPH, Bicester, May 22, bonhams.com/departments/mot-car/

Why buy it? Known as ‘Zoey’, this is the Works car used by Pat Moss (Stirling’s sister) for the 1958 and ’59 Monte Carlo Rallies. In the latter she came 10th overall and won the Ladies Cup. Later it was Practical Classics magazine’s first project car, restored to the standards its history commanded. It has since been successful in historic rallying and is on the market for the first time in 30 years.

Estimate £40,000-£50,000

1971 Volvo 1800E

For sale at Dorset Vintage & Classic Auctions, live online, 20 May, dvca.co.uk Why buy it? Possibly the last opportunity to buy a full and well-historied, one-owner 1800E. It’s left-hand drive because while the owner bought it from Volvo’s London showroom he was working in Paris at the time. Overseas postings meant it covered a mere 61,000 miles since. Estimate £22k-£25k 1965 Alfa ATL Coupé

For sale at Silverstone Auctions, live online, 22 May, silverstoneauctions.com

Why buy it? It’s believed to be one of perhaps eight examples built by Como coachbuilder ATL using the Alfa 1900 chassis and 100bhp twin-cam engine. Bodied Superleggera-style with aluminium panels over a tube steel frame, it’s an older restoration used sparingly since. Guide £140k-£170k

1950 Ford Pilot V8 pick-up

For sale at Morris Leslie, live online, 22 May, angliacarauctions.co.uk Why buy it? A restoration project, but what a project! An Australian market vehicle recently imported from New Zealand, this would turn heads at any event whether you go for the full-on show treatment or a rat-look finish. Appears sound with much work already done. Interior is awful though. Estimate £10k-£12k
