2018 Moidart Penin­sula Road Run

Or­gan­is­ers An­drew John­stone and John Mc­crink are pleased to an­nounce that the ninth Moidart Penin­sula Clas­sic Mo­tor­cy­cle Road Run will take place on Thurs­day, May 3, 2018.

Open to mo­tor­cy­cles made up un­til 1979, each year an in­creas­ing num­ber of gen­uine en­thu­si­asts on an amaz­ing va­ri­ety of clas­sic and vin­tage ma­chin­ery make the pil­grim­age to the Scot­tish High­lands for the event.

Last year saw en­trants from the UK, Europe and the USA. Guest of hon­our for 2018 will be Six­ties tri­als ace Mick Dis­more, a vet­eran of the SSDT and a fully sup­ported works rider for James from 1959-1964. At 85 he is still a reg­u­lar vis­i­tor to the ‘Scot­tish’ and is look­ing for­ward to a run round the penin­sula on his vin­tage Honda.

Start­ing and fin­ish­ing at Kin­lochleven, The Moidart fol­lows what used to be the Thurs­day route of the Scot­tish Six Days Trial, and cov­ers around 120 miles of breath­tak­ing scenery. It in­cludes the short Cor­ran Ferry cross­ing and there’s even the op­por­tu­nity to visit the in­fa­mous Devil’s Stair­case, once con­sid­ered a most de­mand­ing and in­tim­i­dat­ing sec­tion by com­peti­tors, but loved by spec­ta­tors.
