2018 Moidart Peninsula Road Run
Organisers Andrew Johnstone and John Mccrink are pleased to announce that the ninth Moidart Peninsula Classic Motorcycle Road Run will take place on Thursday, May 3, 2018.
Open to motorcycles made up until 1979, each year an increasing number of genuine enthusiasts on an amazing variety of classic and vintage machinery make the pilgrimage to the Scottish Highlands for the event.
Last year saw entrants from the UK, Europe and the USA. Guest of honour for 2018 will be Sixties trials ace Mick Dismore, a veteran of the SSDT and a fully supported works rider for James from 1959-1964. At 85 he is still a regular visitor to the ‘Scottish’ and is looking forward to a run round the peninsula on his vintage Honda.
Starting and finishing at Kinlochleven, The Moidart follows what used to be the Thursday route of the Scottish Six Days Trial, and covers around 120 miles of breathtaking scenery. It includes the short Corran Ferry crossing and there’s even the opportunity to visit the infamous Devil’s Staircase, once considered a most demanding and intimidating section by competitors, but loved by spectators.
