Instant retirement
Knowing what a fan CDB'S editor is of Triumph twins in competition, I thought you might like these photos of Gary Shaw’s engine when he had to retire from this year’s Pre-65 Scottish. Gary and Colin Fray were riding steadily on the road back to the finish day one and his Triumph stopped. A little investigation at the roadside proved it was terminal and further investigation back at home showed why. The only time I have seen such damage before on these engines is when they are or were in race or fast road tune. It appears the right hand conrod gave way and wrecked everything else.

Oooch! That would do it Dave. That’s going to need a lot more than just a little welding. I’ve a pile of scrap bits in similar condition after 40 or more years, hope the bike is up and running asap. Tim
