No, Nutting!

-

Just read John Nutting’s piece on the XSR700. I love John’s style, but the bike has to be the ugliest thing that has ever been chucked together by any manufacturer and is probably why must UJMS are now covered by plastic sheets! You can see similar things by looking in the bottom of any plumber’s toolbox! Have manufacturers forgotten how to design an engine with clean lines that are inoffensive and pleasing to the eye? My current bikes are GT550 and GT750 Suzukis, which in my eyes look pleasing, with well-designed and smooth lines that show some thought has gone into the finish, like most bikes of that era. This is why so many are sticking to the bikes of the 60s, 70s and 80s, because they are nice to look at. The XSR just looks like a pile of ill-fitting bits that were just bunged together anyhow. Sorry about the rant, I’m better now! Please keep up the day job, we need folks like you to keep us entertained and make the blood flow! Alan Hodgson Bertie says: “Rant on Alan! Should we mention that Scoop’s just bought an XSR?” cmm
