June 9

Let’s face it, by June 9 you’re going to be in need of a bit of a lift and you’ll be bored senseless of politics, so why not pop to a quality pub and enjoy some bike banter old and new with the Mackenzie clan? As you know, Niall Mackenzie is a living legend and CMM contributor. Having ridden a variety of bikes during his youth, Niall went on to make a name for himself in the RD350LC Pro-am competition before being our brightest talent in the 500cc class in GPS in the late 1980s and early 1990s: he then came home and cleared up in our domestic British Superbike series, winning the crown three times between 1996 and 1998. Along with his lovely wife Jan, he’s sired two sons: Taylor and Tarran, who are both 2016 British Champs – Taylor is National Superstock 1000 champ and Taz is Supersport 600 title holder. The event takes place at The Olde Three Cocks pub in Brigstock, Northants and it promises to be a full-on Cmm-backed night of stories of modern racing and tales from the glory days of 1980 500cc GPS and 1990s BSB! The Old Trout may even let his lads talk about their racing lives too. Free to enter, the pub can do you some decent food and there will be some auction items up for grabs, for the benefit of a local charity, Cransley Hospice. Editor Bert will be the compere so feel free to turn up and ask why he’s still not finished a project bike yet… For more details keep an eye on our Facebook page. The Olde Three Cocks is in High Street, Brigstock NN14 3HA and on 01536 373476.
