I would love to have this one in my shed still. Without doubt the VFR750 is one of my favourite bikes. They can do it all, from taking you touring to reliving those Trans-atlantic moments. Sure that was the earlier model and by the time this FS model was launched the RC30 had been created to deal with racing stuff. The VFR wears well as the finish was always a few notches above its rivals’. They will go on and on; that V4 motor is delicious. If you’ve ever had to fit an exhaust to a VFR you might have a few less fond memories. The front pipes are a doddle but getting to the back two is a real chore. Technical issues are scarce, a baked rectifier is probably the most common weakness, thankfully it’s cheap and easy to rectify! Prices for VFRS had to go up – they were too cheap for too long. The interestin­g thing is the price of FL to FV models have surpassed those of the first VFR800 model. I’ll let you work out why that is. This bike ended up being someone’s birthday present, after several lengthy phone calls the middle man at the bike shop sent his van from Scotland to collect it. His customer was planning to gift wrap it for her other half! How sweet is that eh? If I had broken it for parts there’s a few items that are always in demand, the most obvious being the front wheel. It’s often bought by owners of Fireblade models that use a 16in front wheel. The VFR wheel is direct fit – it uses the same discs and spindle, goes straight in and allows you to fit that all important 17in front tyre! With the selection of 16in rubber always restricted, this means a lot to some Blade owners. Why not just buy a VFR?
