IT’S MY BIKE Mal Williams

-

Back in the day the GT250 seemed to be the steed of choice for most of the local biking fraternity, along with the Yamaha RD250 and Kawasaki KH250. Many happy trips were had. One such jaunt saw 10 of us meet up, fuel up and set off with the bigger bikes at the front, with the rest of us going hell for leather trying to keep up. One of the gang (who shall remain nameless) was tall and reminded me of a spindly-legged spider on a GT250K due to his build and riding style. We approached a series of sharp bends when all hell broke loose. A farmer had dumped the contents of his slurry pit on the road. ‘Spider’s’ bike slides one way then the other: arms and legs flailing more vigorously than usual before he disappears through a hedge. Thankfully, the only damage was to his pride, not his pride and joy! Oh, how we laughed – if only we had camera phones back then!”
