JOHN ‘FOXY’ FOX

How long have you been in The LC Club?

JF: I have been a member of The LC Club since 1990 when all the Newsletters were hand-written and very basic compared to today’s Newsletter. Numbers of LCS owned and what’s the longest duration?

JF: Over the years I have owned eight LCS, starting with a MK1 RD125LC, which I passed my test on. The other seven were either 250s or 350s. I own three LCS now: an import R1-Z 250 that I have had a YPVS 350 engine fitted to; my main LC is the Mangler, which I have owned since 1991; and the Marlboro LC is a German import that I bought in 2014 and partially restored and painted in Marlboro colours. It’s now fitted with Fahron 370 barrels.

What does the club mean to you?

JF: Over the years I have made some good friends across the country through the club and I’m currently the Club Chairman.

RICHY HERBERT

How long have you been in The LC Club?

RH: 1989/1990 (I think). Gill and I were giving out flyers for the LC Club at the Corby Kawasaki Rally and that’s how we met John Fox.

Do you hold a position in the club?

RH: No, but I sort out the Lakes Rally every year.

Numbers of LCS owned and what’s the longest duration?

RH: One LC350 and two Powervalves. I’ve had the LC since 1989/1990, one YPVS for 25 years and the other 20 years (ish!).

Any interesting LC related stories?

RH: We did many LC Club rallies over the years and had some good laughs. Oh, and there were the BMF rallies. Oh, and Foxy and his infamous home brew!

What does the club mean to you?

RH: Many good laughs at the rallies over the years, met some great people, and some ‘interesting’ people.

Anything else you’d like to add?

RH: I’ve built a few bikes over the years: LC 350 with TZR 250 running gear and seat unit, BMF class winner in 1991. After I got banned on it, then had a car crash into me! Then there was an YPVS 350 with Kawasaki ZXR 400 running gear, and a YPVS 350 with inverted forks and single-sided swingarm.

Built but now gone.

RH: Ahhh, the TZR 250 2MA with 350 YPVS motor, single side swingarm and Gp-style big-can Allspeeds! And an YPVS 350 with a trellis frame, and not forgetting the 350 LC reverse cylinder low-rider! Built for a laugh for the BMF Rally one year!

GILL HERBERT

How long have you been in The LC Club?

GH: First joined the club around 1990-ish so I have been a member for 29 years.

Numbers of LCS owned and what’s the longest duration?

GH: Currently none, previously one for about three years.

Any interesting LC related short stories you want to share?

GH: At the Lake District rally a few years back I was on the yellow Powervalve for the ride out and it nipped up. The back wheel started weaving from side to side about three or four times, throwing the bike lock to lock and nearly throwing me off. The people riding behind me said it looked quite impressive. What does the club mean to you? GH: Richy and I have been members for nearly as long as we have been together. We have made many great friends through the club over the years, many of whom we are still in touch with.
