Clubs and the coronavirus

-

The two big clubs in our hobby – The Vintage Japanese Motorcycle Club and The Vintage Motorcycle Club – have both attacked the coronavirus pandemic head on.

The VJMC has suspended ALL 2020 events until further notice, while the Vintage Motor Cycle Club has closed its headquarters and is urging members to cancel any local events and meets. In a press release the VMCC’S marketing director Patrick Bramman notes: ‘With the current situation the way it is, it’s the VMCC’S opinion that local sections should cancel or postpone any organised meetings or runs which require individuals to gather in close proximity to each other in enclosed premises. Social runs which are predominately outdoors and with minimal close contact between people should be low risk, therefore can continue at section secretaries’ discretion and taking notice of any government advice. As far as the major events run by the VMCC such as the Banbury Run in May and Festival of 1000 bikes in July, the VMCC Board are waiting for guidance from the ACU and Motorsport UK before taking a decision.

‘The first of the new VMCC Rider Experience Days on April 4 at Curborough will be cancelled; hopefully September’s event on the 5th at the same circuit will continue.

‘In addition, the Library and Office at Allen House are closed to visitors until further notice; all other support and services are operating normally at the moment. If you have any questions on this, please contact the General Manager, preferably by email.

‘The VMCC management and board will continue to monitor the situation to ensure the safety and well-being of their members and staff.’ For more on the clubs (and why not support them and join) go to: www.vjmc.com and www.vmcc.net
