Classic Motorcycle Mechanics

Busa boy 2!

- John Scanlon

I’ve been in touch before and still getting the beloved mag, I’ve been getting it for a few years now. I’ve got a cruiser and a Honda VFR800 FI (1998 registration) and I live in the Republic of Ireland.

The February 2020 mag was supposed to be out on January 15, 2020 but I don’t see it in the shops. Has there been a hitch? I’m just looking on line and it’s still only showing the January 2020 mag.

It was good to see the Honda Deauville featured recently and, yes, you corrected that ‘Scottoiller on a Deauville’ comment. Did you fall out of the wrong side of bed that morning? Hee, hee! We’re spoiled for choice over here. I don’t know what my everyday bike will be: Deauville, Pan European or BMW R1100RT.

The VFR’S just for summer use and wouldn’t look out of place beside a new bike.

And that ‘BIRD of PREY’ just featured on the cover (Suzuki Hayabusa), well, I don’t want too many bikes and insurance is a labyrinthine mess of bureaucracy lacking transparency in Ireland. Businesses are shutting down and too many are struggling to stay afloat as they can’t afford insurance any more due to our ‘compensation culture’.

Even our ‘corrupt’ politicians have tried it on for ‘injuries’ over here!

If I’m being honest, I want to throw a brick through the windows of politicians’ cars as they go around meeting us, promising us the earth. (I’ll let you know if I actually get round to doing it!)

I only meant to ask about the mag, but just couldn’t help saying the rest so apologies for the blabbing!

Bertie says: “We don’t mind your blabbing, John! If you want the mag sooner than in the shops then SUBSCRIBE! Insurance is a dirty word anywhere, if you ask me! And yes – my

Deauville comment was a classic! Dohville… Oh, and I’m there with the brick. As long as no one is injured. But, hang on, won’t that mean more insurance claims?”
