Robert Gunn says: “Here are three bikes that started my motorcycling fun! The first is a 1964

Suzuki 50 model M15 which I bought in 1970 aged

17 and it cost £35. It never broke down and I passed my test on it, too! My first brand-new bike was a CZ125 Sport in the summer of 1971 – just

£173 on the road! This was replaced by a Yamaha

RD125 in 1975: it did

81mph just as Yamaha claimed. Oh, and I learned to ride in a field aged 12, taught by a friend called

Bertie who had been given a

125cc Bantam by his uncle.

Today at 67 I’m still biking, having returned after a long gap. In 2019 I bought a brandnew Honda Monkey 125 and love every minute of riding it!”

Steve Gilbert says: “This is me and my Honda SS50 in 1982 just before getting it on the road. Some might notice no exhaust manifold: it was waiting for a Dynaflow system. When fitted with a 70cc barrel, head and one carb from a 125 twin (and re-jetted of course), this bike was a genuine 65mph bike and shocked AP50 and FS1-E riders! I loved fitting new cylinder heads every month ha ha! Oh, RKV 353R, where are you now?”

Cliff Williams says: “This was 1976: the long, hot summer. I was 17 and the proud owner of a Honda 250 G5. After telling my folks I was off out

for a local spin, I set off on my first journey of any real distance: a 300-mile round trip on A and B roads, to visit an aged aunt who lived near

Bristol. The attached photo was taken by my aunt, as I was about to start my return journey, to be back home in time for tea!”
