PERFECT TIMING FOR FAIRGROUND ATTRACTION REUNION

-

The original line-up of Fairground Attraction, including Eddi Reader and Mark Nevin, have revealed details of a reunion after almost 35 years apart that includes a new studio album and 14-date UK tour.

To launch the comeback, the band unveiled a Nevin-penned new single, What’s Wrong With The World?. The guitarist said: “I can’t tell you how wonderful it is to be back together, making music again. I think we had all given up hope that it would ever happen a long time ago. It is almost spooky, as though we are ghosts, who have come back to life, but something happens between us when we play together. Time evaporates and it could all have been yesterday.”

The band were double BRIT Award winners in 1989, with Perfect taking home the Best British Single prize and The First Of A Million Kisses winning Best British Album.

Following the split in 1990, Reader launched a successful solo career recording 12 critically-acclaimed studio LPs, notably Sings The Songs of Robert Burns – her interpretation of the poems of Scotland’s national bard – which gained her honorary degrees from five universities, plus an MBE for outstanding contributions to the arts. Nevin, as well as making seven solo LPs of his own, collaborated with various artists including Morrissey and Kirsty MacColl.

After decades apart, Reader and Nevin reconnected last year with the singer joining the guitarist at one of his solo shows to sing Fairground Attraction favourite Allelujah.

The band head out on their first UK and Ireland tour since their split, beginning on 28 September in Wolverhampton and ending in Edinburgh on 18 October. Other dates include London’s Royal Festival Hall and the Royal Concert Hall in Glasgow.
