2016 FIM Europe Awards
The winners of the FIM Europe Vintage Road Race Championship Gold, Silver, and Bronze Medals gathered in the five-star Esplanade Hotel in Zagreb for the 2016 presentation night. Built in 1925 to cater for passengers on the Orient Express, the hotel, on this occasion, played host to motorcycle racers from Sweden, Germany, Austria, Slovenia, Croatia, Portugal and the UK. Igor Eskinja, who has been associated with the Yugoslavian Grand Prix since the Sixties when it ran on the streets of Opatija, was the special guest and presented the awards. Long Eaton’s Peter Howarth was the lone UK representative, taking the Gold medal in the Forgotten Era 350cc class on histzyamaha.
