“In hind­sight, no. MV was slow in de­vel­op­ing its bikes and it was a bat­tle to get them to im­prove things.years af­ter I re­tired I rode one of the later fours and that was a su­per bike, com­pletely dif­fer­ent. I had no idea that the Ja­panese fac­to­ries were just about to turn road-racing up­side down. When Mike Hail­wood was hav­ing prob­lems with the 500cc Honda four he sought my opin­ion.there were some ba­sic things wrong with it, but noth­ing that could not be sorted out.”
